Please join us with your families for a fundraiser/party on the roofdeck of Porter 156 for fabulous skyline views, refreshments, face painting and live music from the fabulous “garage-country” favorites, Hillbilly Holiday. You’ll have a chance to win some incredible things in silent auction form, including two roundtrip tickets from JetBlue—choose from more than 60 destinations in the continental U.S., Bermuda, Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America, and enjoy. Suggested admission donation of $10 – $20 per adult.

Our sweet little plot in the community garden is coming along quite nicely!  Thanks to our wonderful friends and helpers, Ana who helped plant, and Eri who has been helping us tend and water, we may have some snack foods ready very soon!

We had a fantastic volunteer work weekend and Open House 2.0 last weekend (6/11 and 12)! With the help of some wonderful parents, we were able to:
-prep, paint, and install our colorful documentation boards
-install child-height handrails on the stairs
-paint the baseboards
-prep and prime the materials to build cubbies

We were thrilled to debut the work-in-progress space to many families. The kiddos got a chance to run and play together, parents asked plenty of wonderful questions, and popsicles were enjoyed by all!

As part of our volunteer work weekend, we’d love to have you join us for an informal open house at 196 Putnam St. See the space in progress, meet the director, ask questions, paint something, get your hands dirty in the garden, and have a popsicle! RSVP to carissa@harborcitykids.org if possible. Spontaneous attendees welcome too.

A Preschool Teacher at HCS will:

• Design and implement emergent lesson plans derived from observations of children in the classroom.
• Document student learning through written and visual means.
• Work with families to create relationships of trust and respect and to ensure that all families are appropriately represented in the curriculum.
• Interact positively with children and model positive interactions with other adults.
• Create a safe, warm, secure environment in which all children feel respected and valued.
• Participate actively and respectfully with the teaching team at Harbor City School.

Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in early education or related field
• 3+ years experience in education or child care
• EEC teacher certification (or meet requirements to become certified)
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Team-oriented, flexible, and reliable
